Game 1
The first game of the series against UC Merced was a heartbreaker for UC Davis, as they lost the lead late in a 9-7 defeat. UC Merced trailed until the bottom of the sixth inning when two runs scored on a single. Despite the loss the Aggies collected ten hits in the game. Unfortunately, Merced had eight hits on their way to victory. The Davis offense was lead by Alli Poore, Rachelle Cepeda, and Lila Simpson. Hannah Sarlatte took the loss for UC Davis in the circle, surrendering seven runs on five hits over five and a third innings and striking out seven.
Game 2
UC Davis fell to UC Merced, 7-6, in the second game of the series in a walk-off in the seventh inning. The game was tied at six with UC Merced batting in the bottom of the seventh when a single drove in the winning run. UC Davis collected nine hits and UC Merced had twelve in the close game. The Aggie’s offense was led by Jenny Resnick and Joanne Camaquin as well as Amanda Gilchrist with a clutch double and Paulina Binsfeld going two or two. Tricia Leong took the loss for the Aggies, surrendering six runs on eight hits over three and a third innings and striking out two. Joanne Camaquin was the starting pitcher for UC Davis, throwing three innings and allowing one run on four hits, striking to two, and walking zero.
Game 3
UC Davis and UC Merced traded the lead back-and-forth during the final game of the series, but eventually UC Davis prevailed 22-11. The game was tied with UC Davis batting in the top of the fourth when Jenny Resnick homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. Resnick collected four hits in five at bats to help lead UC Davis to victory. She tripled in the second, singled in the third, homered in the fourth, and tripled in the fifth. UC Merced evened things up at eight in the bottom of the third inning when an error scored one run. But the Aggies put up eight runs in the fifth inning with an offensive onslaught led by Joanne Camaquin, Siobhan Murphy, Alli Poore, Gita Mallya, Jenny Resnick, and Paulina Binsfeld, all knocking in runs in the inning. The Aggies totaled nineteen hits in the game with Resnick, Binsfeld, Murphy, Poore, Alyssa Beckers, Melanie Callahan, and Lila Simpson contributing multiple hits. Poore led the Aggies to victory in the circle. She allowed nine hits and nine runs over four innings, walking zero. Ashley Yount threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
