Game 1
A 3 run walk-off homer by Jenny Resnick drove the UC Davis Aggies to defeat the Boise State Broncos in their first game of the season with a final score of 7-5.
Alli Poore got the win for the Aggies, striking out 6 and allowing 7 hits and 2 runs in just over 5 innings. Tricia Leong came out of the bullpen to relieve her, striking out 2 and allowing 4 hits.
The UC Davis Aggies racked up 12 hits with Rachelle Cepeda getting 2 hits and Resnick getting 3. Alyssa Beckers, Maddy Demos, Marisa Quiros, Rebecca Ortiz, Brittany Bangert, Lila Simpson, and Poore each had one hit, adding to the Aggies' high hit count. The Aggies brought some power with 3 home runs during the game, one from Poore in the second inning, one from Resnick in the third, and another one from Resnick in the seventh.
Game 2
In the second game of the day, the UC Davis Aggies pulled ahead of the Boise State Broncos to win 11-6. Although the Aggies were behind in the third, Marisa Quiros tied it up with a sac fly, hitting in the crucial run. The Aggies broke away in the fourth, starting with a double by Paulina Binsfeld that drove in two runs, followed by a single by Rachelle Cepeda off an 0-2 count, a single by Quiros, and a single by Brittany Bangert, each driving in another run. Also contributing to the Aggies’ 12 hits with a single hit each were Lila Simpson, Melanie Callahan, Jenny Resnick, Alli Poore, and Maddy Demos. Bangert and Alex Lee had 2 each and Binsfeld, Quiros, and Demos each knocked in 2 runs.
Tricia Leong got the win for the Aggies, pitching 4 innings with 3 strikeouts, only allowing 5 hits and 3 runs. Poore relieved her, pitching the last 2 innings of the game.
